Degree in Mathematics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, GR; M. Sc. in Mathematics at The City University of London, UK; Ph. D. in Educational Sciences at the University of Patras, GR. After working for seventeen years as a teacher in vocational education and training schools he was appointed as Lecturer in Mathematics Education at the Primary Education Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1994. He is now an assistant professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education of the University of Athens lecturing in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as in teachers further training programs. He has published several papers on ideological, social and cultural issues of mathematics learning and teaching in Greek and international journals and he has contributed to international conference proceedings. His current major research interests include socio-cultural aspects of learning and teaching mathematics as well as epistemological questions on mathematics education as a research field.
