Abstract

In this book Yannis Karas deals with Stefanos Doukas’ profound thought and work in the years of the Greek revolution. It focuses on the historical and social context in which Doukas’ thought flourished and intertwines the historical bonds with the German reflection and education.
The setting of a broad historical perspective enables to better understand the misunderstanding of Doukas’ work as well as the reasons behind the war against Natural Philosophy. This constitutes the object of the first part of the book.
“Looking through Nature”, an exceptional work of the Modern Greek intellectual area tacked away in the monasteries of Athos for years, constitutes the second part of the book.
