For the first time the greek bibliography presents an introduction to the Oceanography discipline tracing its course in the greek area from 18th to the end of 20th century. The first part of the book deals with the conceptualization of the relevant meanings found in the manuscripts and books of the scholars of the Reviving Hellenism while the second and third part is devoted to the formation and evolution of oceanography in the emergent State as well as the Greek oceanographers’ contribution to the international scientific community
